Dar es Salaam.

The Minister of Minerals, Hon. Anthony Mavunde, has revealed that Tanzania is ready to attract investors from various nations through the 5th International Mining Investment Conference, scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam from November 19 to 21, 2024.

He disclosed this yesterday, August 21, 2024, at the Johari Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam while speaking at the official launch of the event.

Minister Mavunde stated that the conference will bring together international stakeholders in the mining sector, including investors, mining researchers, miners, government representatives, foreign leaders, and ambassadors from various countries. The aim is to discuss unique investment opportunities in value addition, mining, and especially during this time when the demand for essential minerals is increasing globally.

“It is the directive of Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan that all minerals mined in the country should contribute more to the national economy, protect and increase job opportunities for Tanzanians, stimulate technological growth in the sector, and promote community and economic development,” said Minister Mavunde.

Emphasizing the conference’s theme, ”Value Addition in Minerals for Social and Economic Development,” Minister Mavunde stated that,  the conference will be an important platform for in-depth discussions that will provide new directions for the mining sector in the country, while also unveiling new investment opportunities and technology transfer.

Furthermore, Minister Mavunde mentioned that the conference is expected to be a unique opportunity for participants to understand Tanzania’s mineral policies, investment incentives, and the government’s plans to improve the environment for sustainable mineral extraction.

On his part, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Minerals, Msafiri Mbibo, stated that the conference will serve as a foundation for capacity building and technology transfer through in-depth technical discussions and presentations that will provide new insights on how to improve the sector, as well as seek new opportunities for mineral value addition.

“This conference will also offer investment opportunities by attracting more companies involved in research, mining, processing, and value addition, as well as service providers, to mine and add value to essential minerals and gemstones found in Tanzania,” added Mbibo.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Chamber of Mines, Engineer Benjamin Mchwampaka, expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Minerals for selecting them to collaborate in organizing the conference.

“We are the voice of investors in the mining sector in the country. We believe that this conference will enhance our efficiency in the daily operations and the entire mining sector value chain. Through this collaboration, we are confident that we will have a successful conference in November 2024,” emphasized Engineer Mchwampaka.

Additionally, the conference will feature a “Usiku wa Madini,” a special night which is a gemstone show aimed at showcasing Tanzania’s vast wealth in gemstones, alongside an event recognizing companies and miners who have excelled during the current period.

The launch was attended by senior ministry leaders, executives from ministry institutions, various ambassadors representing their countries in Tanzania, holders of major mining licenses, medium-scale license holders, mining service providers, mineral traders, financial institutions, and various mining stakeholders.
